I am Intimidated and I have no idea what to expect!!

I just want to touch on a topic that I typically hear from clients on a somewhat weekly basis: Too intimidated to Workout with a Trainer.

I had a new client start a few weeks ago and she comes in on day one and is completely shy and doesn’t look interested in working out. I asked her, “ Is everything ok?” She quickly comes back with, “ i’m a bit scared and just a bit intimated on what we are about to do.”

I totally get this reaction from someone who hasn’t worked out in a very long time and is looking to get back in the swing of things. As a fitness professional it is up to me to make her feel comfortable and lay out what we are about to do to ensure confidence and reduce any kind of fear.

Little did she know, we were going over some of the basic movement in regards to strength and conditioning, but to her she had no idea. She had done them before, but didn't have the confidence to do them on her own. She needed help and guidance!!

In my own opinion there are too many folks out there who would put this same individual through a grueling workout and make her earn her keep on day one.

Not so FAST! WRONG! Most would, but not the NEXT LEVEL. I wholeheartedly think it is my duty to make someone feel comfortable and increase confidence, so we can build upon this after each and every workout.

If you aren’t confident and smiling from ear to ear upon your departure form each and every session, then I haven’t done my job.
