Happy Wednesday,

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th and have finally started to recovery and settle in for the week. I wanted to write today and talk about two words that we find ourselves battling day in and day out.

Gap and Gain

Let me explain

Living in the Gap is when you focus on what is missing. You only focus on why it wasn't. You only focus on what is missing. You might have made progress on your goals, but you only focus on what you didn't accomplish. You might have great kids, but you only focus on where they come up short.

The Gain- you measure where you formerly where. The purpose is to gain momentum and it increases your moral. When you focus on the gain, we see the world subjectively and not objectively. You create a sense of winning and it boost your moral and confidence to keep you inspired for bigger and better goals.

When we measure ourselves against our ideal, we're in “The Gap.” However, when we measure ourselves against our previous selves—the person we were when we set our goals and ideals—we will be in “The Gain.” In “The Gain” we can more clearly see the progress we've made, and therefore will experience the happiness.

Maybe you have found yourself in the gap with your health and fitness goals. You only focus on what you didn't accomplish as opposed to what you did. You don't feel like you have progress due to the countless hours you spend working out and counting your calories.

It gets the best of us and even myself as your coach. We tend to strive for perfection instead of focusing on the GAIN. If we would spend more time on the GAIN and less on the GAP we would all be much happier on where we are going instead of where we are.

Spend less time in the Gap and more in the GAIN.

Coach Aaron
