Tortoise or Hare? You Decide!

As I sit here on Sunday afternoon and think to myself what would be helpful to send out for Monday, I wanted to share a conversation I had with a client about Goals/Success.

Most of you now know that I have a very consistent way of following up with prospects. With that being said it led to the Success of a current client whom I had followed up with for about 4-5 months before he committed to coming to start back his workout programs. He came in in September of 2017 after he relayed that he went to the Dr. with a not so good report upon completion of his visit. He came in and we talked about his goals and what he wanted to achieve over the course of his time with The Next Level Working out. He stated he wanted to lose a little bit of weight and increase his numbers on certain lifts, because he used to be a Collegiate/Professional Athlete.

As we fast forward to August 2018, this same client brought up a great point about how we look at success. Most people want instant Success with results usually within the first few weeks of starting a workout program. I think sometimes we let the infomercials and social media influence the desired results we want. Instead of putting in the work for long term health and fitness, we look at what we can do NOW.

I get it, without some sort of instant gratification we don't think what we are doing is working.

Whatever happened to ditching the quick fix? We all know its only temporary, Right?

Take time and read the short, but yet informative Tortoise and the Hare Story:

There once was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, Slow and Steady, the tortoise, challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.

Hare ran down the road for a while and then and paused to rest. He looked back at Slow and Steady and cried out, "How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?"

Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."

Slow and Steady walked and walked. He never, ever stopped until he came to the finish line.

The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise, they woke up Hare.

Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise was over the line.

After that, Hare always reminded himself, "Don't brag about your lightning pace, for Slow and Steady won the race!"

So, with that being said our conversation concluded talking about how its been a year since he has been working out. He is down 14lbs, feeling great, friends and family are starting to notice that he is making a change with his health. Plus, he's enjoying each and every workout. He said, " I would much rather be down 14lbs in a year, than beat himself up every time he didn't eat something "Healthy" or not enjoy life because I'm too worried about not getting my workouts in 7x Week.

You can make this as brutal or exciting as you want to. You don't have to continually count calories and make your life miserable.

Ive adopted these 3 things and you can to:

1) Eat the things you know you don't need as much of in moderation

2) Burn off more calories than you consume

3) Workout and make life enjoyable
