Negative People
Most of us have people in our lives who are supportive of our health and fitness goals, and go out of their way to help us achieve them.
And most of us also have people who are quite the opposite.
People who say things like, “Oh, one beer won’t hurt you!” Or, “Geez, if you can’t eat pizza, what’s the point of being alive?”
I call the latter people energy vampires … and urge you to start getting rid of them.
We’ve all been conditioned to believe that having the body and health that we want is all about calories in vs. calories out, and protein, veggies, carbs and healthy fats.
And yes … it is about that.
But that’s not all.
Not even close.
You see, we don’t make decisions in a vacuum … unless you’re interested in being stranded on a desert island by yourself for the rest of your life. And I don’t recommend that.
Every decision we make is affected by our environment and the people we’ve invited into it.
If that environment is mostly supportive – filled with healthy options like fruits and vegetables, and devoid of unhealthy items like chips and dips and pastries – then we’re going to do a whole lot better.
And if that environment is populated with supportive people who want to help us succeed – and devoid of people who are always trying to get us to “go off the deep end” when it comes to nutrition – then we’re going to have a much easier time making healthy decisions.
What kind of people do you want to spend your time with?
Those who want to support your health and fitness goals?
Or those who scoff at them and try to convince you that one drink, one dessert, or one bag of chips isn’t going to kill you?
I think it’s pretty clear … but I’ll let you decide.
