Your Sanctuary

A client posted this the other day after proudly hitting another PR in her morning training session, and I thought it was worth sharing.

“With so much negativity going on around us and across the world, my gym and nature became my sanctuary more than ever. A place where I feel safe and forget what is going on. A place where I can relax, refocus, restore and rebuild my strength.”

After I dried my eyes, I realized there’s something here that we can all learn from … a sort of defense mechanism against everything we’ve endured over the past year, and everything we continue to endure.

Everyone needs a sanctuary.

It could be your fitness community and the outdoors. It could be a nail or hair salon. It could be curling up with a good book.

But more than ever, we all need a safe space … and to be surrounded by positive, supportive people.

When it comes to our physical and emotional health, it’s non-negotiable. We MUST take care of ourselves … because no one else is going to do it for us.

I’m so proud that my clients have helped me create a place that feels safe and supportive, where they can accomplish incredible things they’ve never done before, and where they can celebrate those accomplishments with other amazing people.

Spoiler alert: You’re not going to get that from a Peloton or a Mirror.

Justin sayin ....

I’m all for virtual workouts … heck, we did them for more than half of 2020, and we’re still doing them now … but at the end of the day, humans need human interaction.

We need to be a part of something greater than ourselves.

We need each other.

In these challenging times, what’s your sanctuary? What’s your go-to self-care activity that makes you feel grounded, safe and happy?

Reply back and let me know … I’d love to learn what works for you.
