Battle Being Waged in Your Mind

When you think of the most helpful weight loss tools, what comes to mind? Diet books?  Protein shakes?  Treadmills and free weights?  Chances are, when you think of things that will be helpful to you on your journey to fitness, you immediately consider tangible objects like those just mentioned. But what you are about to read may shock you:  when it comes to losing weight, there is one tool that is more important than all the diet books, exercise equipment and boot camps combined. 

It is your mind.

The truth is, there is a battle being waged for your fitness and it is happening in your mind.  What happens to your body is first determined by your mind.  So if you want to shed pounds and feel better than you have ever felt in your life, you first have to have victory in your mindset.

How does this work?


It starts with understanding.  Before you can win the battle in your mind, it is important to gain a basic understanding of not only how your mind works, but how the universe works as well.  For just as the universe is governed by specific laws of the universe, so is your mind. This is not difficult to understand. For example, consider the Law of Gravity.  This law exists all around us, and its existence and impact on your life is not dependent on your awareness of it. 

Does this make sense?  You can choose to ignore this law by stepping off of a tall building, but the law is there and functioning regardless of whether you choose to acknowledge it and take it into account.  If you step off the building, you will slam into the pavement; ignorance of the law doesn’t change the rules.

Another example is the Law of Energy:  energy is.  We all learned in school that energy cannot be created or destroyed—it just is.  Even new insights aren’t really new when you think of them in this way.  Airplane flight is a great example.  The ability to fly has always been there, we just didn’t become aware of it until the Wright brothers learned about it.  Even the technology behind PC’s isn’t “new.”  It’s just new to us.  The concepts have always been true.  We just couldn’t make those concepts work for us and improve our lives until we became aware of those concepts.

The same is true when it comes to making your body healthy and fit.  All it takes is becoming aware of key information and abiding by certain laws to make it happen.  In order to maximize your success and reach your goals, you must work on your mind. 

What are some of these ‘laws’ that you must learn and abide by? Examples include:

·      In order to lose weight you must decrease the amount of unhealthy food that you eat.

·      Exercise is critical for making your body healthy.

·      To increase your metabolism, you need to build muscle mass.

·      Your body needs the micro nutrients found in vegetables and fruits in order to stay healthy.

·      Eating too few calories will slow your metabolism and encourage weight gain.

·      In order to start seeing results, you have to show up and put in the work.

These are just a few of the ‘laws’ that are at work which govern whether or not you reach your fitness goals.  They are true and real and are at work regardless of your awareness of them.   Your challenge is to heed them and put them to work for you.  

As you gain understanding of the laws that are at work that govern your weight loss and work with them, you will begin to see change in your body and in your mind. Those laws begin to serve you and help you reach your goals!
